Jersey: The proper fit for a soccer jersey is generally loose and comfortable. Some have short sleeves, and others long sleeves. Women’s jerseys are a bit more fitted through the shoulders and waist. Socks: soccer socks generally come up to the knee, and are made of a thick, durable fabric that is either synthetic or cotton. Make sure to pick socks that protect your feet from friction from your shoes, and that also cover your shin guards.
Shin guards: At any level, all soccer players should have shin guards. These protect your shins from injury; your shins are the part of your body most likely to be struck.
They go on the front of your leg, along the shin bone, and are secured with Velcro straps. The size of the guard depends on the position you play. Strikers will have on lighter, smaller models. Maximum coverage pairs are best for midfielders, goalkeepers and defenders. Even most recreational leagues require players to wear shin guards.
Headgear: In soccer, some players wear headgear. This optional equipment is especially popular with younger players. It’s like a thin soft headband that softens the blow when you head the ball, or if your head and another players’ bump together.
