NFL Rumor Mill: Packers Interested in Michael Vick

The Packers have gone on record by saying they have not ruled out signing free agent Michael Vick. It has also been reported that the Packers are considering signing Vick to a contract. While I am not a big fan of Vick with the dog fighting and beating the Packers on Wild Card Weekend in 2002, he could be a good asset to an already good offensive team. He could add that extra dimension that the Packers are looking for. Here are the pros and cons for the Packers if they sign Vick.

Can the Dallas Receivers Fill Owens’ Void?

I know T.O. is a very talented WR, but I think the Cowboys will be fine without him. Not all the pressure has to be on the WR’s to make up for the loss of him. The Cowboys have 2 very good offensive TE’s in Witten and Bennett, and have one of the best RB groups in the NFL. Getting Felix Jones back will play a big role in making up for T.O.’s production. Just keep all that in mind as you read this.

Seattle Shuts Down Sloppy St. Louis

While the St. Louis Rams aren’t the toughest opponents the NFL can offer, the Seattle Seahawks played well on both offense and defense en route to a 28-0 opening game victory. Jim Mora made a successful debut as Seahawks coach and Matt Hasselbeck played his first regular season game since last Thanksgiving. Hasselbeck was 25 of 36 for 279 yards with three touchdown passes, though he also threw two interceptions.

Jets’ Rookie QB Sanchez Suffering From Minor Knee Ailment

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been a crucial factor in the teams 2-0 start, showing a poise and head for the game very rare for NFL newcomers. Still, there wasn’t much worry at the revelation that hes suffering from tendinitis in his right knee. The Jets announced Sanchez’s injury on Thursday, and hes listed as probable on the official NFL injury report.

Browns Keeping Starting QB Under Wraps

Most NFL head coaches place a priority on naming a starting QB before the regular season begins. The idea is that it helps the chemistry on the team, as well as helping the quarterback define himself as a team leader. Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini hasn’t named his starting QB yet. Nor will he, at least not publicly. Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson will find out if they’re the starting QB in the next couple of days, but the coach won’t divulge that information to the public until game day.

NY Giants Open NFL Season With Win Over Washington

The New York Giants jumped out to a 17-0 lead against their NFC East rivals from Washington, and were never threatened as they went on to beat the Redskins by a final score of 23-17. Defensive stalwart Osi Umenyiora returned from a serious knee injury and scored a touchdown on a fumble return, while the Giants offense controlled the ball well and completely dominated the time of possession.

Titans’ Washington Could Play In NFL Opening Game

The Tennessee Titans are preparing to open the NFL regular season on Thursday night and already they have to struggle with the impact of injuries to key personnel. Of all their injuries none are potentially more devastating than the hamstring injury suffered by wide receiver Nate Washington. The most recent development, however, is a positive one for the Titans as Washington has indicated that hes feeling better and there’s a good chance hell play in Tennessee’s opening game. He remains a game time decision, but this prognosis is upgraded from previous assessments of his condition.
